Job Summary

The jobholder is responsible for processing insurance claims in line with set policy guidelines.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Ascertaining that claims are reported in good time and that documentation is properly done
  2. Analysing claims and supporting documents for verification of validity.
  3. Ensuring prompt registration and acknowledgement of reported claims
  4. Reviewing claim reports and recommending settlement in line with policy liability and circumstances of loss
  5. Ensuring prompt processing for settlement on all fully documented and concluded claims and seeking approval for payment within the agreed timeframes and approval levels
  6. Consulting and advising on issues regarding claims management.
  7. Carrying out Insurance Risk Surveys fronted by Insurance Companies
  8. Implementing policy terms and conditions recommended by the surveyors for risk improvement
  9. Assisting in the annual tendering process for Insurance brokerage services and negotiate competitive premium rates with the successful firms
  10. Providing procedural advise to staff regarding insurance covers placed.
  11. Maintaining the underwriting register, records, and files.
  12. Reviewing and maintaining policy documents in the insurance department
  13. Implementing KenGen management policy on assets and manpower
  14. Drafting periodic status reports
  15. Ensuring implementation and compliance with relevant ISO standards and procedures
  16. Ensuring compliance with company safety policy and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

 

Educational Requirements Job Experience/Qualifications

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

  1. Bachelors Degree in Insurance or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  2. Proficiency in computer use and applications.
  3. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
