GENERAL MANAGER - FINANCE

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager Finance, the job holder is responsible for overseeing revenue invoicing and collection, funds management, management of foreign currency dealing and risk exposures, capital raising and projects financing, working capital management, tax management, investor relations and stakeholder management.

Job Description

a. Duties and responsibilities
    1. Supervising day-to-day supervision of treasury activities including centralized cash and debt facilities management.
    2. Ensuring all client invoicing and collection, and payment of vendor invoices occurs on a timely basis.
    3. Managing of Company foreign exchange exposures, including transactional exposure, debt portfolio hedging and supervision of foreign currency dealing.
    4. Handling cash flow planning, financial modelling and analysis and offers advice to management on a large set of financial matters such as mergers, acquisition initiatives, potential opportunities, and financial due diligence.
    5. Managing working capital requirements and review day to day operations of the Company to ensure sufficient funds are available for everyday operations.
    6. Managing the cashiers’ function, setting objectives for the division in line with company values and vision and ensure smooth running of payments and reconciliation processes.
    7. Reviewing bank and control account reconciliations for risk mitigation and make necessary adjustments.
    8. Sustaining an optimal capital structure including handing any capital raising transaction/processes.
    9. Overseeing investor relations function including creation of presentations and other communication materials for earnings releases, industry events, and presentations to analysts, brokers, investors, and financiers.
    10. Maintaining and building relationships with debt providers at all levels including banks and DFIs.
    11. Tracking all taxable income and ensure timely payment of all tax obligations.
    12. Monitoring of foreign currency dealings to mitigate associated risks.
    13. Monitoring issuance of letters of credit for overseas supplies.
    14. Facilitate preparation, monitoring and absorption of budget for the Division 
    15. Preparation and monitoring of procurement plans 
    16. Recommend and or approve procurement processes and professional opinions 
    17. Prepare and submit periodic reports in a timely manner
    18. Performance evaluation of employees 
    19. Lead, develop and mentor their teams  
    20. Ensure adherence to quality, occupational health and safety standards

b. Person specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. At least twelve (12) years relevant with at least four (4) years in Management role in a large organization.
  2. Master’s degree in commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance from a recognized institution.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounts option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration/ Management (Accounts option) from a recognized institution.
  4. Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) or its equivalent professional accounting certification.
  5. Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
  6. Be a member of a relevant professional body in good standing
  7. Meet the requirements of leadership and integrity as prescribed in Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya.
  8. Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from recognized institutions.
